The McCain campaign's assertion that Obama is the September 10th/pre-9/11 candidate is ridiculous and fortunately seems to have not gained any traction among voters or the media. Thanks to Obama's strong campaign and their forceful, swift responses to Republican smears, it looks like it will be very difficult for Republicans to make garbage like this stick.
I'll give McCain some credit...

Ok...so McCain voted for and continues to support a war that never should have been authorized and never should have been waged.
His Iraq policies don't match his rhetoric...but in his new ad, I'll give McCain some credit for pretty good rhetoric.
http://jp.youtube.com/...
"Only a fool or a fraud talks tough or romantically about war...I hate war...I know how terrible its costs are."
These are sentiments I'd guess many veterans would agree with and I think they could be a pretty good way to approach war and peace. Of course, I don't see how these sentiments can be reconciled with McCain's Iraq policy. But I'll give him a gold star for the effort.
Also, who has been talking tough or romantically about war lately? Oh yeah...Bush! Nothing like a shiv in Bush's back from the Republican nominee.
And while I'm talking nice about McCain...let me further shower him with faint praise -- I think he would be a better president than Bush. Of course, that is like telling someone "I love your new cologne, it smells even better than a porta-potty on a hot summer day."

Preconditions
Tue May 27, 2008 at 07:06:24 AM PDT
Lately, McCain is making a lot of noise about Obama's willingness to negotiate with countries like Iran. McCain said:
"The fact that Sen. Obama would try to backtrack from a key pillar of his foreign policy agenda in the middle of a presidential campaign shows that he clearly doesn’t have the judgment or experience to lead as commander in chief."
Obama has repeatedly expressed his willingness to meet with Iran "without preconditions". This has generated a lot of criticism from McCain in spite of the fact that being unwilling to meet with our enemies is nothing more than a continuation of Bush's disastrous diplomacy and his failed foreign policy.
McCain has twisted the meaning of "without preconditions" to make it sound like Obama is going to invite Ahmadinejad to the White House and when he arrives be like "Hey dude, what's up? What shall we talk about?"
This is, of course, total bullshit.
Cash on Hand
Wed May 21, 2008 at 04:15:00 AM PDT
The big news from the latest round of FEC filings is Hillary's staggering amount of debt.
But I think a more important story is Cash on Hand (CoH), which I will summarized in a couple equations below:
Obama CoH + DNC CoH = $46.5 million + $4.7 million = $51.2 million
McCain CoH + RNC CoH = $21.7 million + $40.6 million = $62.3 million
Republican CoH > Democratic CoH
(and if Hillary becomes the nominee, the financial disadvantage becomes even worse)
There is still a lot of time before the general election for the Democrats to even up the financial landscape, but the DNC is going to need some help. A lot of that help will come from the eventual nominee, but the netroots needs to take action too.
So please join the DNC moneybomb on June 3rd!
Organizing a moneybomb for the DNC

First off, let me say "Howdy" to everyone. I'm a long time lurker, first time diarist. I'm from Texas, but right now I'm living abroad in Japan. このサイトに日本語が分か

! Living abroad, I've been a bit removed from the excitement of this year's presidential race. So I got to thinking that even though I'm thousands of miles aways, I could use the internets, that wonderful collection of tubes, to try to do something to help out. So I am organizing an online fundraiser - a moneybomb - for the DNC to be held on June 3rd.
I've created a website and a Facebook group to promote this effort:
http://www.dncmoneybomb.com

There is more info after the jump. I hope many of your can join me in this effort, and thanks for reading my first diary!
